Should we rebuild the WTC of ferro titanium and coat its support beams with chrysotile? Ti would resist any such fire for hours and hours. New processes now could bring the price down to tenable levels.

If airliners had the same override that CF-100's did for all weather flying, then this catastrophe would have been mitigated.

If the pilots had been able to keep the hijackers out they should have stood off the bomb threat as no bomber would use a large bomb as a threat to gain control as the gains nothing if the threat is carried out. The bomb would most likely not bring down the aircraft. No large bomb could be in the luggage bay. Since control was their goal, the option of refusing that was the best one for the pilot. The pilots made a logical error. Control should never be given to the terrorist. Once given, all outcomes are worse than refusal.

Compliance should only be to redirect the destination. If the terrorists don't like that then their pique however bad must be put up with as the least of a bad lot of chances.
