I've got to start lurking that thread! He's got some good points. On the other hand...international ties and conflicts, and interests, well they just don't work that way. You don't maintain global power by always being a "good neighbor". You need to be able to leverage and control sources of poewr on the planet--and one is oil. So in the end, I think his thinking is naive.

The link BirdDog posted to that history of the 1993 bombing and Iraq's involvement is just brilliant. I'm reading it now.
