<ot>Hi Tom - hopefully, your post was just emotion talking. The words 'Sandi' and 'They' are generality while the perpetrators are individuals. To be fair, I ve no great love for some of the cultural hangups of the Sandi. However, if ObL is indeed the mastermind, it should be understood that he has been disowned by relatives quite a while ago. Now, I don't know if it is for real or if it is lip service, but take it fwiw. More important, confusing a category with a particular is a big no-no for logicians. Surely, one can understand if Socrates is a man and I am a man, therefore I am a philosopher is a laughable assertion! To move away from this academic talk, even President Bush has warned not to confuse all Arab descent or those with the Islamic faith with terrorism and/or unpatriotic tendency. [Otherwise, a lot of little kids may lose their favorite basketball players <g> to this campaign of exclusivity.
Speaking of friendship, there is no doubt one should pick one's friends seriously. As someone here has already pointed out, the US and the current Afgan regime were "fast friends" once [and Saddam, too!] So, sometimes the enemy of my enemy may not be my friend afterall. So, blame no one but ourselves for reaping the bitter harvest of our own choice. An unholy alliance is just that, but one certainly doesn't let go of trusty ally simply b/c there are occasional disagreements.
Just my take
best, Bosco |
