It is about time to stop concentrating on the gun that shot the bullet and concentrate on the ones that pull the trigger. Those are ME governments and bureaucrats. Bin Laden is the easy scape goat wonder why he is the only evil. .......... if at all he is.

That only works before the gunfight starts. When bullets start flying, you first destroy the guns and the shooters, then go after the overlords. I suspect that once the shooters are gone, the overlords will be much more accomodating. Bin Laden is just a face, a name, the terrorist organizations is what we have to destroy ... Abu Nidal, Abu Sayyaf, Aum Shinrikyo, Hamas, etc, they are the fanatics that are being used, and in turn use, the ME governments in an ever-tightening death spiral.

Powell for political reason is targeting Bin Laden after denying him access to the Saud dynasty upon request of those who decided to take the path of cowardly and remain home and fight for a position in the royal family.

Yeah, but you have to start somewhere, and Bin Laden is as good a place as any. Hitting al-Qaida camps massively with conventional smart weapons and tactical nukes would make the Taliban think twice about harboring him, and might even topple their radical regime. This could be done as a joint US-Russian operation (since the Russians hate bin laden even more than we do), and Pakistan, sitting next to them, would have to think twice about supporting radical moslem movements with massive strikes going on across the border. Eventually, Iran would also have to think about consequences, especially if we also turn Saddam's palaces into dust. In the end, citizens of moslem countries will have to liberate themselves of the filth that is driving them off a radical cliff, but how much easier will it be if their own leadership is running scared of massive attacks by civilized nations, with promises of a new Marshall Plan to reconstruct their economies and societies once the terrorist war is over. And I emphasize, THEIR societies, not a westernized hodge-podge, as we tried in Iran.

I wonder many times how naive people living in the US are with all their other advancement. Many on SI and in the US at large think and measure others by US social values.

I don't really care to measure others, they can live by whatever values they want, as long as they don't attack our society.

It is about time to think out of the BOX.

does any one know who are the majority of technical people operating Saudi oil fields and why Araffat supported Saddam Husein during Desert Storm ??? or why Huseini of the PLO died all of a sudden of a hearth attack in Kuwait this year when he demanded money for the PLO ????

I'm sure there are many intrigues of which we know nothing, but I'm also certain that a strong deterrence will make the answers to those questions meaningless in a domestic sense.

Talking heads know nothing and are feeded BS and Powell has a plan that will fail as he is in denial and wants to be Lawrence of Arabia

I think he, and we, only wish to be at peace, and a potential target list that begins with the afghan and Pakistani terrorist camps and goes through the Iraqi palaces, and ends in Mecca, will make the terrorist-harboring regimes think about saving their society against anihilation, and block or root out the international terrorists within their midst. After that, they can do whatever the hell they want, it is their country, their society, and their religion.
