Hi WUWT,
Talking about history, you might find it interesting that I first learned to sign off with "Cheers" by emulating my dear friend Trev. It was only after he passed away that I learned that this was not the cool internet sign off that I had mistakenly thought it to be.
In fact, the origins lie in war-time Britain when the boys would toast each other, slug back their drink and then march off to fight the enemy. Drink hard, fight harder. I suppose that is why Trev, a former RAF officer from WWII, kept up the habit of saying that even in the internet age.
Anyway, I understand what you're saying, but in its original context, it would be sort of appropriate during these horrible times too huh?
