By Hell to pay, I don't mean Republicans will lose the the White House, or the majority in Congress. I mean we'll find Anthrax in the water supply, or a nuke in a crate, or you name it.
If this administration is not up to the task of finding an erudite solution to this extremely complex problem, we're in a heap of trouble>>
Very well said, I think. I have the same trepidations about saying what we're going to do and taking actions without thoroughly thinking through the consequences - we could have our way with the world and get these people, and push aside anyone who got in our way - but would we do that if it cost us 4 million dead Americans in terrorist reprisals? As you said, in matters this complex one needs to think through each scenario very carefully before one acts.
On the other hand, there are those who inject their own craziness into this tragedy. I just saw a news report on CNN which said Rev. Jerry Falwell has laid blame for this terrorist attack on the sins of "pagans ... abortionists, feminists, gays and lesbians...". Well, now we know whom we need to hold accountable. Shall we execute them, or, as hmly so kindly suggests, just deport them to Canada?
