From a pal of mine in the asbestos abatement industry,

Yes , all the steel in the building was coated in asbestos fireproffing. I have heard that there were airborne concentrations 4 X the legal limit. Saving lives now is more important than possibly getting a disease in 40 years. They have detected dusts about a 3 miles away that contains asbestos.
