MSNBC just had on a woman from Florida who drove to NYC to look for her daughter. Her daughter worked for investment company Keefe, Bruyette and Woods (occupying 85th, 88th and 89th floors of the south tower). The woman got to talk to her daughter before the building collapsed. Her daughter said that even though they'd been told to evacuate before the plane impacted the south tower, management ordered her to go back to her desk in case trading were to start.

This is the second anecdote I've come across where a trading firm put the profits of the company ahead of the lives of it's employees. And we thought analysts were the scum of the earth.
