Terrorists and terrorism must be eradicated.

Michael,

I do not want to get into an argument; I merely want to state my beliefs. These people were suffering from what buddhists would call "afflictive emotions." You can never realistically eradicate afflictive emotions since they exist in all of us to some degree, so going after the people who did this is somewhat futile. They were in not in control of themselves with their hatred. Imagine the last time(probably last week) you felt very angry almost to the point of being enraged. It is hard to think cogent thoughts, let alone live a normal life. Now imagine trying to go though life like that; it is hell on earth for these people and as such they deserve our sympathy and not our hatred. It does feel better if one can let go of what happened and forgive. I was walking through work yesterday and saw a man standing by a television set telling another person how he wanted to kill Bin Ladin and the people who did this. It was obvious that this man was fast losing peace of mind and would soon be not very far emotionally and mentally from where these people were when they committed these acts. Forgiveness is actually a form of selfishness; you do not allow yourself to be eaten up inside with hatred. Hatred is poisonious; I am not sure if they have done studies on it, but am sure that the health effects(high BP etc) are not at all conducive to a happy or healthy life. One more reason forgiveness is actually an act of selfishness.

Peace.

Brian
