I like the comparison to the Barbary pirates. Last night O'Reilly interviewed an idiot professor of international relations from the University of Illinois who said, "We can't declare war on terrorists, we can only declare war on a nation."

The Barbary states that harbored the pirates are much like the Muslim states that are harboring these terrorists today. When the Pasha of Tripoli declared war on us, Stephen Decatur and his volunteers bombarded his fortresses and burned his ships.

If pinheads like the professor need a legal mechanism to go to war, we can look to Article 1 Section 8 of the Constitution, where it is authorized to grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, a means by which the government can right a private wrong against one of its citizens.
