Implication, savings rates:

Consumers further chastened hold off purchases (auto, homes, etc.) cut travel/vacation. Cash is saved.

As a Canadian, I can write about my experience here on Vancouver Island. There appears to be a complete alignment in horror and sympathy with our US friends. The blood banks are turning away volunteer doners (sp?)in Canada--can't deal with the increased volume.

There is much anger, too.

I want to offer my personal best wishes to all. Especially those effected by these events.
