American culture these days is heavily globalized, at least in the Blue Zone. I am a spiritual resident of the Blue Zone except for my politics. We drink expresso and latte, eat imported pasta with Parmegiano Reggiano, drink French wine with French brie on French bread, use Italian extra virgin olive oil on our salads, eat grapes from Chile, oranges from Israel, and practically everything we buy was made in China, except for our cars which are made in Germany or Japan. (Mine's British, made after BMW bought Rover, before they sold it.)
That's not going to change.
Every older person I know travels around the globe every year.
That's not going to change. As soon as the fighting stops, those retirees will get back on the planes and travel to Egypt to see the pyramids, and Florence and Paris and Ireland.
McDonald's has a problem already - mad cow. My own father and his brother's entire family have stopped eating beef. I can't imagine any American buying a Big Mac in Europe.
That will change.
The situation with oil is going to get worse. Good for the oil patch down in Louisiana and Texas, we will start drilling wells in California and Florida and in national monuments. Environmentalists don't stand a chance against soccer moms in their SUVs.
That will change.
China will become the hegemon on that side of the Pacific.
Things do change but change is inevitable.
Hey, if anyone wants to default, we're the debtor right now.-g- |
