Every sane man wants Brian's world- unfortunately realism overtakes idealism ultimately. I believe cancer is the best analogy to continue to use. One doesn't "hate" cancer, one surgically removes it as expeditiously as possible with as little collateral damage as possible. In this case the cancer involves killing other human beings, and I have no problem with that after this week. Brian, Quakers, pacificts, conscientious objectors are blessed to live in a country where others will do their fighting, will protect them from harms way, when they won't do it themselves, or while they wring their hands over the messiness of it all.
I want to puke when I hear, yes, the bleeding hearts make everyone a victim due to their circumstances. Bullshit. There IS basic right and wrong; the world is certainly not fair, but no one has the right to end others lives.
Brian- "affictive emotions"? What horshit.
