Lola, Lola, Lola
Pakistan may be closer than ever in solving the Kashmir problem in its favor, closer than it has ever been before!
Why? I'll try to explain why.
We still dont' know who did this but Osama Bin Laden has become a prime suspect. Who do I think is behind this? I don't know yet but I do have a theory. I do not think Osama is smart enough to ORGANIZE something like this alone! If his sympathizers did it (likely) they had some help from a government intelligence agency. Who is the best intelligence agency in the World? Israel's Mossad ( I propose CIA raiding these guys and hire them to protect us!). I am not saying they did it, the sheer audacity and cruelty of this just boggles my mind (but it does make me wonder that Israel is the biggest winner out of this in theinternational arena). What other agency could be involved? ISI, Pakistan's spy agency. We already know they have several higher ranking officers very sympathetic to Osama and Taliban. The Talibans are practically an ISI creation (an indirect result of CIA's support of ISI and Pakistan for years). I am sure lot of the ISI guys are now doing whatever necessary to point to Osama (who is an uneducated less than average brain guy anyway) working overtime to point the blame to Osama (and indirect to Taliban). Why? Well to get to Osama and the Taliban we NEED Pakistan. Just taking a look at the map shows you why. In international diplomacy, there is a fierce give and take. So, Georgie calls up his friend Musaraff (dictator) and tells him "Musaraff fude, we must fight terrorism and eliminate it" Musaraff responds "George, I am so sorry about your losses, all of our people grieve about your losses (bullsh*t thousands of dirt poor Pakistanis are celebrating) and we will help you as much as we can, what can we do for you?" George replies "We need complete cooperation to get to Osama and Taliban, including intelligence, military bases, air passage, etc etc." Musaraff" Oh Georgie, I could not do that, it is political suicide, my people will hang me by my balls, this will not fly regardless of how many millions you give me and clan" Georgie obviously getting frustrated that some Pakistani does not accept the superpower's demands but he needs Musaraff (probably do the dirty work/ground troops for us). Georgie, you know what, there is only ONE way for me to help you deliver Osama and the Taliban head clerics in the platter so you can deliver them to the American people which will help your poll numbers skyrocket" Bush "Now you are talking, Musaraff baby, what tell me, you name it, I really liked the part about the polls skyrocketing" You got to force India to give up (all or almost all) of Kashmir, if you do that I will order my troops to deliver to you Osama and Taliban clerics and make you look like a hero, if I don't get Kashmir you are asking me to comit suicide and without me you are kidding yourselves that you can get to these guys (true). And Bush calls a peace summit hastily between Pakistan and India and after intense (yeah right) negotiations Pakistan gets Kashmir. Of course the Indians will get something, what I dont' know but there is always something.
That is my scenario. I could be completely wrong but maybe I am completely right. But it just goes to show you what happens behind closed doors in foreign policy diplomacy.
And when you hear one day at a news conference:
"Osama and 5 Taliban clerics responsible for the US bombing captured by a perfectly executed heroic commando operation uinder the direct orders of George W. Bush" you know that Kashmir may be a lot closer to Pakistan than ever before.
Of course we have not solved the problem yet but, temporarily, we can bask on our great leaders who found and will punish the criminal beasts a(and George can see those polls and say wow just like his father did) and have our troops in brand new bases there to get closer to the vast oil and gas fields a bit west of that country (all in the name of guarding against further terrorism of course). Everyone wins.
And the cycle will start back up again with innocents dying some day.
This was a short lesson on Foreing Diplomacy 541 ,Case study, no extra credit, sorry.
