Every sane man wants Brian's world- unfortunately realism overtakes idealism ultimately. This is the excuse used by many to maintain the status quo and never move forward as a race. We have principles to live by, whether the Ten Commandments in Christianity or the Five Precepts in Buddhism. One cannot pick and choose when principles are adhered to but one should ALWAYS try to lead an ideal life. When one uses the North Star as a guide one never expects to reach it, but they use it as a guide anyway; similarly, when one practices these ideals perfection is never attained but we should not give up trying. Brian- "affictive emotions"? What horshit. Please tell me what in the post you did not understand about afflictive emotions. The term may be new to you and others, but the concept is one of logic and reason and is not difficult to understand. Peace. Brian
