Bin Laden interview: We believe that the worst thieves in the world today and the worst terrorists are the Americans. Nothing could stop you except perhaps retaliation in kind. We do not have to differentiate between military or civilian. As far as we are concerned, they are all targets, and this is what the fatwah says ... . pbs.org
Testimony from the Embassy bombing trial: "Fast and light forces must be used and must operate in absolute secrecy," bin Laden stated. "All effort must be directed at this enemy, kill it, fight it, destroy it, break it down, plot against it, ambush it, and God the almighty willing, until it is gone." cnn.com

IMO anything short of all out war on land, seas, and air, will prove fruitless. Using international police forces, high tech gear, etc etc etc have all failed. This has been going on for 30 years. All this talk about "being smart" is a delusion and will fail. To stop it, nations will have to fall, peoples conquored, and land taken. The enemy is at the gates. All half measures will fail. Those who want a magic wand solution will only lenthen trials. Time is also the enemy now, and we have no time to waste in endless self recrimination or debate about the nature of the enemy. The enemy has revealed himself. Time for coffee table discussion to end. Alas, I fear more buildings will have to fall. We still don't get that we are at war. |
