Some people aren't open to discussion of root
causes

There's a difference between the discussion of root causes in a peceived attempt to solve a problem, and the discussion of root causes in a perceived attempt to excuse behavior.

All human acts have root causes. Many, many humans have suffered acts which raise legitimate grievances against others. But they do not excuse inexcusable acts. And when the victim believes that this is what is being attempted, anger is inevitable.

Would you go up to a rape victim the day after she was brutally raped and say "well, you know, we should understand that your rapist had viable root causes behind his rape of you, that he was beaten as a child, and I want you to consider this even as you are crying out for him to be punished"? If you would, you are far more insensitive than I give you credit for.

But IMO that's quite similar to what you are doing here. You seem to be suggesting that these root causes somehow create at least a partial excuse for the bombings and the taking of many thousands of lives. I don't know about you, but I don't believe there is anything anybody has done to anybody in the past fifty years that could excuse such acts. Or should even be considered as possibly excusing them.

Yours is the wrong message at the wrong time to the wrong people.

And I think you know it.
