Hello Ray! I believe the title of coward can be attributed to the fact that they weren't in uniform, attacked unarmed civilians and nobody wants credit for the deed.

When the Japanese pulled their sneak attack, they proudly displayed their flag, said we're here and we did it and they attacked ships and planes that had the potential to defend themselves.

The terrorists may have been bold, but the earned the title of "coward."
