re: Irrelevant. They had a real issue and had to deal with it in real time, and may have actually saved lives (we may not know if another group or two got held up on the ground and walked away from the whole thing).

As I said, we should have reopened air traffic the next day. I agree with the closure at the time of the tragedy.

You never know for sure. The driver coming down the road on the two lane may be drunk to the max, about to pass out. The guy knocking on your door may be Charles Manson.

In real life we live with calculated risk, and the day after WTC, probably the safest place in the world would have been on an airplane. Instead, we gave in to the terrorist, they won.
