Jay, it's more than likely that it is I who don't understand what is going on in China. You know me - while waiting in line at a government office today my choice of reading was about wheat prices in the early part of the 20th century. You'd be surprised - well, maybe not, but I was surprised - that there are scholars who specialize in wheat prices. Helen Farnsworth, a Ph.D. at Stanford, no less. I bet she really bored people to tears.-g-

Rest assured there are bright boys and girls here in Washington who pay very close attention to what is going on in China. Many of them of Chinese heritage, no doubt. There are bright boys and girls who specialize in everything, and Washington is the place to do it.

My new office neighbor is of Chinese heritage, a patent lawyer who specializes in pharmaceuticals and biotech. Sharp guy, but he says he wanted to try a more varied practice. Doesn't know beans about DUI, but that I can help with.
