V: It's GREAT to see you posting...Don't let anyone drive you away from the porch again. Nothing wrong with some voluntary breaks though <G>.

We are in a rough new world now. THE GIANT HAS BEEN AWAKENED...I am pleased with the unity I see across our country and it's amazing Congress DOUBLED Bush's $20 Billion request -- $40 Billion is quite a down payment to launch 'Chapter 1' of this new global war on terrorism. It's important to help those in need that have been impacted by this recent set of brutal bombings. We also MUST move ahead and swiftly UPgrade our security and Intelligence gathering techniques.

This will be a long, sustained campaign where the civilized nations go after radical terrorist leaders and their sponsors -- wherever they are (even if they are in our back yard). There still are some radical cells that have folks in our country and we must hunt them down -- quickly, confidently, and carefully...It's sad when I see on CNN that Arab Americans are being victimized. That SHOULD NOT be tolerated. We are just looking for the radical fundamentalists -- and some of them are here. Our FBI and CIA have been hitching rides to work for too long now. If I had to compare them to a company I might compare them to Firestone -- they are often ending up with some PAINFUL BLOWOUTS that are tough to explain. We need to transform these organizations and turn them into 'The Microsofts' of the global surveillance & law enforcement field. Notice how Microsoft continues to get stronger and re-invent itself ALL THE TIME (the U.S. Gov't can't even stop it). We will have to use some methods that at times are brutal but necessary. We know what kind of viscous methods our enemies have been using. On the other hand it is important to use ALL of our capabilities when we apply pressure on the regimes that are harboring Terrorist leaders and their cells. We must quickly learn from past mistakes and move ahead to fight our most important battle ever. The stakes are very high. Yet, I am confident that we will ultimately win.

Best Regards,

Scott
