Pete, re Other possible implications:

If large corporations choose to become less centralized as a way to control risk of loss to terrorist acts, then telecommunications usage will likely go up simply for intra-company purposes.

Existing large buildings might take on a more diverse mix of tenants in an effort to lose identity and thereby become a less likely target.

In the event of a chemical or biological attack(s)that we all hope never happens, it won't just be the corporations looking to decentralize--this trend will be driven just as much by the demands of employees wanting to get away from the big city metro areas. This would translate into higher demand for real estate in the smaller metro areas of say 1 million or less.
