The fact is that a frightening large percentage of the Muslim world is happy that the horrors of last week were done. On the street, there is joy, irrespective of what the politicians say in Cairo, Tehran, Damascus, Islamabad, or Ramallah.

While this may be true, is it not also because of the socio/economic conditions that the 'frightening large percentage' percentage of these people live in?

Hatred is easy to promote in those that have little to live for and little education. The leaders of these people know this.

An enlightened Muslim faith may be all the things you speak of, and I am sure that is so, but the Muslims I've seen in the streets deserve the fate I pray they get.

I can not find it in myself to hate these people who have been taught to hate from childbirth, although I find it easy to despise the leaders that are using the situation of their people to support the climate of hate. Those that cross the line and do something about their hate, well, they must pay but it is my hope that their leaders pay many times over.

How the cycle gets broken I do not know. Its like slavery and segregation in the US so long ago, but on a much bigger scale.
