Aggie,

I took yesterday away from the television, spent most of it between 7,000 and 8,000 feet in the eastern Cascades, trying to get a little perspective. I'm not sure I succeeded but it was literally a breath of fresh air for a while.

As we continue to thrash this thing out, your comments about Islam struck me as key.

"The only way this campaign will succeed will be for the USA to embrace Islam, not condemn it. You'll only beat the likes of these weasels by cutting them out of the herd, IMO."

It won't be Navy SEALS or Army Green Berets or Top Gun who lead us to victory in this new war. It will be Moslems who reject this madness and are willing to work with their own governments and the international community to expose them to, not retribution, but destruction. You must police your own people, your own territory, or you will be cut off from the world.

As for the battle on the home front, it will be very difficult to find out where the rest of the sleepers are. The battle plan is in their heads, not in their backpacks or desks or hard disk. Their weapons, box cutters, exist by twos and threes in everyone's garage. But I'm confident with the kind of neural networks, pattern recognition computing we have available, that we can find a short list of people to "talk" to. It may end up being a tough talk.
