Fairholme Fund Article:

interactive.wsj.com

Fairholme Fund, a small, strong performer noted here in the past, likewise has profited from an emphasis on insurance, translating its managers' belief in Warren Buffett's philosophy to stakes in Berkshire Hathaway, White Mountain Group and Alleghany.

Less well known is Fifth Third Equity Income, a little fund that is a member of the Fifth Third Bank family. The fund came up in a Morningstar.com screen as the portfolio with the largest percentage of its assets devoted to Marsh & McLennan. That company, of course, is in the doubly unfortunate position of being a direct victim of a disaster, with potential financial exposure to others' losses from the same tragic event.
