But I couldn't possibly. :-)
Understanding your enemy is the first step to defeating him (or her). A truly irrational enemy would be very difficult to defeat. But I don't believe I can think of any killers who weren't operating under some rational system. Serial killers, for example, operate under very complex rational patterns- very different from those of normal people- but internally consistent. Psychological profiling is often helpful in catching them, since once the system of logic is understood, future actions can be foreseen.
