I wasn't familiar with tasers, but my first impression is that it sounds great. Aparently it is aimed by positioning laser dots--15 feet of wires. I think there should be more than one type of response in order to combat certain strategies, but I think the taser would definitely need to be in there. In the case that the nutbar was immediately threatening some means of depressurising the plane, it would be imperative that he be reached by some weapon very quickly. Of course, this type of talk is somewhat morbid, but it is a million times easier to keep out of trouble than it is to get out of trouble. With appropriate measures I am sure that in-flight intervention would be extremely rare. But all homes require smoke detectors in spite of the fact that most of us will never contemplate losing our homes to fire.
