Tom,
Those Virginia Beach residents realize the sounds of jet fighters above is the sound of security. It's very easy to become complacent when everything is rolling along as usual. It's amazing, not totally mind boggling, but this horrible tragedy has brought Americans together, as I have never seen before in my life time. Even the Iraq war, I was thinking to myself at the time, is this the right thing to do? I believe Americans were split on the attack, but this time, we're all on the same page.
Do you think bin Laden expected this reaction from the attacks? I really don't know if this guy is a genius or is he acting without a game plan. It would appear now, that the majority of the world hates this individual. In some weird way, do you think he expected this?
Cheese, you are correct, minimize the lost of civilian lives is very important. It can be done, and it will be an important agenda for our government. Sure, we're in a war, but the majority of Afghanistan's people are poor and are taken advantage of. Hopefully, we'll take control of Afghanistan, and give it back to a responsible government.
The U.S. will follow the rules of warfare as established by NATO, which will attempt to preserve innocent lives, but at the same time hinder the real motives of the U.S.
Here's another irony. Having rules for War is very absurd. These rules favor the countries in power, so power will never be relinquished, but that's the whole purpose of war- to overthrow power. would have to think, the U.S. would use the rules of engagement as toilet paper, if it became a situation of do or die. That can't happen. If there is no United States, there's no civilized world as we know it today, that's why there is so much foreign support at this time.
Anyways, we'll get to see another war on t.v. |
