I'm sure they did, but I wouldn't look for anything sinister in that.
I have to believe that things will change for China no matter what, hopefully for the better, as newer leaders take control. It won't be overnight, but I am sure it will happen. As they interact with the rest of the wolrd, and as they see that there are other ways "to live", most peoples evolve. Communist Russia is an example, ( I believe that thier fall was inevitable, it just happened sooner than everyone thought, and faster) & they have a lot of problems right now, but I believe everything will turn out okay for them eventually.

I also believe that Cuba will return to "normal" after castro dies, maybe not with the guy that replaces him when he dies, and maybe not even with the one after that, but I do believe that it won't last too long the farther you get in time away from castro's control.
I believe that China will eventually end up the same way, they are still controlled, I think, by mostly the original guys, or maybe the ones that were "right under" the original guys and still operate under their and that time periods influence. I do not think that china will be a communist state longer than the year 2025.
