Tamin makes an excellent point, and there are probably millions of Afghan like Tamin. What Bin Laden wants is the realization of one of Nosterdamus quartains (or actually few of them taken together), in which a major future Islam/Christianity conflict lasts for 30 years (1997/2027 according to some interpreters) and leaves the earth scorched. Just because some people interpret Nosterdamus in that way, it does not mean it has to be that way, and I doubt it will be. But it sure seems from Bin Laden many pronounciations that he is willing to "conquer the west" and establish Islam over the earth over the bleeding bodies of a billion Muslims. I am sure that there is a better way to take out Bin Laden and his bases without much, if any, collateral damage.
And to Rich, please cool off, even contemplating the use of nuclear weapons should send shivers down your spine. You really do not mean to kill every male adult Muslim, or even "just" every male adult Afghan or Iraqi, these thoughts are pure insanity and remind me of Oppenheimer's words, "I have become death, the destroyers of worlds". Furthermore, that will not even solve the problem, what will the wives and children do? In time, the Children will grow up, and hate, and if you think that women are not capable of terrorist acts, you should know that extreme elements in alestine are now calling to women to become "suicide bombers" and "inherit eternal glory as martyrs".
I am assuming that is not what you meant, so simply, don't post such irrational statements.
