From what I have read, the
Dauphan (sp?), whom she trusted, was behind her execution because she had become too popular. At any rate, Joan is old news.
Very old.

The Dauphin was an unsure leader and his advisors were jealous of Joan. She managed to get him crowned but then he resisted her entreaties to join in taking Paris and in fact forbade it. Joan did not trust the Dauphin, only God. The forces that tried her were under English governance even though in France. The Dauphin did not intervene in her trial by "the Bastard of Satan", Pierre Cauchon, Bishop of Beauvais invested with the job by the English. Joan may be a Catholic story but is very engaging and worth a second look.
