Hi all; About that "real eye opener". It's misquoting the Koran so badly that I have to suspect that it was written by Atheists or fundamentalist Christians. Certainly it wasn't written by someone attempting to give a true picture of what is actually in the Koran. I looked up the actual Koran on the internet for the first four quotes they gave after this statement:
"There are very many sayings in the Koran which preach hatred and ill-will towards non-Muslims , and show a pathological fear of the "other:"" secularislam.org
Re: "iv.101: The unbelievers are your sworn enemies." This passage is deliberately and maliciously misquoted, as it applies only during wartime, as is quite obvious from reading the full passage:
[4:101] When you travel, during war, you commit no error by shortening your Contact Prayers (Salat), if you fear that the disbelievers may attack you. Surely, the disbelievers are your ardent enemies.
Re: "lx.4: We renounce you (i.e. the idolaters): enmity and hate shall reign between us until you believe in Allah only…" This passage is deliberately misquoted, in order to hide its obvious connection to the Torah. Undoubtedly he did this because he doesn't want to slur the Jews. Here's the full passage:
[60:4] A good example has been set for you by Abraham and those with him. They said to their people, "We disown you and the idols that you worship besides GOD. We denounce you, and you will see nothing from us except animosity and hatred until you believe in GOD ALONE." However, a mistake was committed by Abraham when he said to his father, "I will pray for your forgiveness, but I possess no power to protect you from GOD." "Our Lord, we trust in You, and submit to You; to You is the final destiny.
Re: "lviii.23: You will not find believers in Allah and the Last day on friendly terms with those who oppose Allah and His apostle, even though they be their fathers, their sons, their brothers, or their nearest kindred …" This is undoubtedly in the old testament somewhere, as my own fundamentalist Christian relatives do exactly the same thing, it's hardly an indication of bloody fascism unique to Moslems.
Re: "ix.7: Allah and His apostle repose no trust in idolaters …" This is deliberately and maliciously misquoted. The full passage, in context, is about giving safe passages to foreigners, as is clear in context:
[9:6] If one of the idol worshipers sought safe passage with you, you shall grant him safe passage, so that he can hear the word of GOD, then send him back to his place of security. That is because they are people who do not know. [9:7] How can the idol worshipers demand any pledge from GOD and from His messenger? Exempted are those who have signed a peace treaty with you at the Sacred Masjid. If they honor and uphold such a treaty, you shall uphold it as well. GOD loves the righteous.
Those are the first four Koran quotes they used in the section I read. If anyone wants to expose the rest of their slur, you can look up the Koran passages here, but note that there may be some slight differences in the numbering scheme (due no doubt to the sloppy hack work they did on the literature): efarsi.org

P.S. Seeing such an important book deliberately quoted out of context to the point of completely turning the meaning inside out makes me sick(er). It's obvious that the article was written by someone who is very prejudiced. |
