Can I delete anything or everything in my C:Windows/Temp directory? How about the C:/Windows/Temporary Internet Files directory?

I only use Win98 but these suggestions should work for 95 as well. Don't delete a file unless you know what it is. Use the uninstall or remove option instead. Any file that you delete through the Disk Cleanup are ok to delete through that program. It will not remove anything that you can't put back as long as you have your original installation CD.

Yes you can to both Temp folders but I would clean temporary internet files another way. Assuming you're using Internet Explorer go to Tools / Internet Options / Temporary Internet Files and click on the delete files button. You can also perform this task through Disk Cleanup. This will clear your cache of quite a bit of garbage if you haven't done it in a while. If you clear everything in the Temporary Internet Files folder you will be deleting your cookies as well.

Go to Start button / Programs / Accessories / System Tools / Disk Cleanup and click on each tab and read through each portion and remove anything you don't use by putting a checkmark in the box beside each item and clicking ok. This should free up quite a bit of space.

You can go to start / Settings / Control Panel / AddRemove Programs and remove any programs listed there that you do not use.

You can go to start button / find / files and folders and do a search for "*.avi, *.mov" (without the quotes) and double click them to play them. If you don't need them delete them. These files can be very large.

Empty your recycle bin by right-clicking it and choosing empty.

Let us know how much room you free up.
