I'm not sure what I said to prompt all that, but actually I agree with a lot of it. There are lots of people prepared to commit violence against American and Western targets (such as Saddam as you mention) and your single previous suggestion to solve the situation in Israel/Palestine in the way you stated wouldn't stop them. I too am concerned with possible military over-reaction on the part of the US and NATO escalating the conflict further. Maybe the best solution is for the US to give the Taliban a billion dollars in aid to rebuild their country and throw out Bin-Laden's supporters in return for which they hand Bin_Laden to the Muslim Pakistanis or Saudis who put him on trial and execute or jail him. Probably that wouldn't work either.... as he is a personal friend of soem of them (but he was a friend of the Northern Alliance people and fell out with them).

Air Force One was never a target.

It probably wasn't but until the nature of the surprise attack becomes clearer they don't know if someone is sitting in the Virginia or Maryland countryside with a ground to air missile waiting.

So on the whole I agree a lot with your sentiments in this post.
