Robert- I think anyone that blows himself up to kill other people is a desperate pawn of some agency that has brainwashed him into thinking he will be glorified for his action. I think that agency is using him for some less than noble and perverted agenda that the pawn has no true concept of. I think all governments motivate their people to fight battles using emotional appeals and propaganda. Football coaches use the same tactics of motivation and both teams in a match have a chaplain that tells them that God will be with them but somehow the real winners are management. I guess I am just not a company guy and I don't like other people telling me to go out and fight fight fight for the home team unless I am sure it is a fight I believe in without being sold a bill of goods. I am glad I never had to make that decision during Vietnam because I had a serious heart condition and was exempt from service. North Vietnam killed a lot of our guys so I guess you will say we were justified in continuing to be there to kill and bomb the North Vietnamese for revenge? What the heck, they got in the last licks so why don't we go back there and hit them hard before they conclude we are wimps and come here and make war on us too? It seems now in retrospect that most historians and most everyone acknowledge we had no business in Vietnam. I do remember some incident where we were supposedly attacked, the Bay of Tonkin, and that was used as justification to expand the war. Wasn't that incident used to get the backing of congress for the necessary funding to expand the war and didn't it turn out to be a big lie? Do you think that is the only time this sort of thing has been done? And you scoff at me for being distrustful of our government. I am distrustful of all governments and wars that we citizens fight while the same few interests are somehow making money off of all sides. Why is history measured in wars and conflicts? I just think most of it is BS and we are all pawns for the ambitions, bloodlust, special agendas, and greed of a privileged few.
