One has to remember that the Palestinians living under Israeli rule are were much better off then under Arafat.
Israel does not want to occupy them but simply wants to live in peace with all it's neighbors, but they can not accept that. Arafat turned down everything that was offered to him at Camp David and instead chose the path of war.
Most people by now agree that a state has an obligation to defend itself from people trying to destroy it, do you not agree?
