| Those of us who are mothers of men and women in the military hear your appreciation, Ike. For those of us who began motherhood in those years of Vietnam anguish and worked for peace in the ensuing years, our worst fears have materialized. I have complete confidence in the skills, abilities, attitudes, and brilliance of loving, human beings of my son and his colleagues in the military . I am confidant that whatever their task becomes, they will do it with deep respect for humanity and life and with an awareness of the importance of their missions. I beg that all of us who are not military pray for them and their well being in the days/years ahead. We all face immense responsibility in our daily choices, moreso than a week ago. My prayer is that as individuals and as a nation, indeed as citizens of the globe, that we are able to rise to the occasion with our respect for all humanity and life intact. sincerely, mitzi |
