Max: I am appalled at Falwell’s comments, but he has long been over the edge. I had a moderate amount of respect for Robertson, but that is quickly dwindling. It seems there are extremist on both sides. I guess the Lord let the Japanese attack us at Pearl Harbor because of the sin within this country back then as well? Of course NOT!

If the Lord allowed these events, it was most likely to wake the American people, as we were needed then and now in these World struggles. If so, in each case to call us to arms before it was too late. The evil of terrorism has been growing unabated. While the devastation in NYC is horrible and has brought tears to my eyes more than once, the current devastation and loss of life pails in comparison to what a small nuclear device set off in Manhattan would have done or a small airplane dusting Manhattan with a biological agent or a chemical attack via the drinking water in NYC.

I think this war will be the most difficult challenge the United States has ever faced. I think terrorism is the single biggest threat to the World's democracies in history. We the people of the United States and we the people of World's democracies must resolve ourselves to the prolonged and dangerous struggle we have no choice but to undertake.

God in his infinite wisdom gave us all the freedom of choice. He gave each one of us the freedom to seek him out or turn our backs on him. If God is willing to give us that choice, it is not the duty or right of any mortal to demand that we do otherwise. Democracies allow each of us to choose our own path to the Lord or not, while living in a country ruled by laws created by the people not by dictators. I believe that is how God intended it to be.

For the sake of our country and for the sake of the free world, may God bless the United States and its allies as we undertake the struggle we must, to remove this evil from the World...

Regards,
LG

PS: Let us all remember to pray each and every day, asking God for forgiveness and for his blessing as we endeavor in this struggle.
