Bin Laden Again Denies Responsibility
5:30 a.m. – Osama bin Laden insisted again today that he was not responsible for the devastating terror attacks on New York and Washington, an aide told the Afghan Islamic Press. "I am residing in Afghanistan. I have taken an oath of allegiance [to Taliban leader Mullah Mohammad Omar] which does not allow me to do such things from Afghanistan," bin Laden was quoted as saying in a statement provided by the political aide. "We have been blamed in the past, but we were not involved," he was quoted as saying.

Iraq Blames 'American Dissidents' for Attacks
4:00 a.m. – Last week's suicide attacks in New York and Washington were carried out by American dissidents and not Arabs or Muslims, Iraq's Vice-President Taha Yassin Ramadan said in remarks published today. "They are accusing the Taliban, Arabs and Muslims ... but the executors of the attacks were Americans," Ramadan told the weekly al-Raee newspaper.
