The U.S. harbors more terrorists than any nation. It is becoming clearer to me that the focus of our efforts needs to start within the U.S. boundaries. If there were 19 terrorists in our country there could be 1,900. Since the attack there have been hundreds of bomb threats throughout the country. After reading many articles about the events of the last days, we have detained and released possible terrorists. One example are two Arabic men on an Amtrak train in Texas, with box cutters, five thousand dollars in cash and hair dye. They were questioned and released. Another, two persons with one way tickets to Syria and one carrying his own pilot's licence and that of his brothers, at a New York airport were detained and released. These people hadn't committed a crime and may be perfectly innocent. But are they, or others, potential terrorists ? and how should they be dealt with? By arresting these people because of their racial profile or religion
hreatens the freedoms and individual rights we hold precious. Ruby Ridge and Waco, and the reaction to those events, are examples of how important it is to Americans that individual freedoms and rights are respected. It is far easier for us to invade and destroy people outside our boundaries than to confront the real struggle in how we fetter out potential terrorists already in our own country.
The war on terrorism needs to start in the U.S.. I really don't know how that can effectively be done without undermining our constitutional rights.
