I gave an example: it is platitudinous to say that violence is an expression of hostility, and therefore its measure. Maybe that is the wrong word, I suppose I should have said "boilerplate" about such situations. The worst platitude, however, it the one that cautions against contributing to a "cycle of violence". They are not violent because we are violent. The violence arises from different wills, and there is little wiggle room between prevailing and capitulating. If it were more negotiable, such outrages would not occur.......
