Not to belabor the point, but I referenced this specific statement: We should make a grand show of submission. Loudly pressure Israel to withdraw. Pull high-profile units back from the middle east. Pretend bafflement. Make them think that they are safe, even if it drives our own citizens nuts. This ridiculous suggestion is not about long term strategy but immediate response. A discussion of longer term strategy ensues. Were our government to follow that outrageous and ill-considered suggestion, coalition building would be next to impossible, governments would be destabilized, terrorist incidents would span the globe, and the likelihood of biological and chemical warfare would increase exponentially. No, it was not an intelligent suggestion from an intelligent person and I am unable to overlook its idiocy. I will respond to the rest of your post in a subsequent one of my own.
