What makes you think the Taliban knows where everything is? What makes you think that the bin Landens of Afghanistan are fixed in place, anyway? What makes you think the Taliban is more in control of the country than the bin Laden - style - factions in the first place? All I can see is anarchy. Expecting one set of bad guys to deliver another set of bad guys to us doesn't seem to me like something we should count on. As to the nation building part, it's hard. The trouble is, what's the alternative? I think we sort of tried the alternative in 89-92, and it didn't work out real well.
