Strictly OT ( I won't draw this out any further -- PM me if you want to discuss any further)

If God did not allow it to happen -- then He is not all-powerful and in control. Then He is not God ...

if you don't believe -- that's your choice.

I am convinced that God Is and He is all-powerful.

Free will has nothing to do with it. I didn't say that God planned it, simply that he allowed it. Just as I believe he allows us both to be alive at this time discussing the matter.

Nothing is random. Probability and statistics are just mathematical tools that scientists and engineers (my occupation) use to describe the physical world in order to understand it on the simple level that we do.

Faith and belief in God confesses knowledge higher than that which can be ascertained by simple application of scientific principles. i.e. science cannot tell us that stealing, lying or homsexuality is wrong, right?

My point regarding the statements of these men was rather simple -- absent a direct revelation -- we cannot know that there was a judgement aspect to what was allowed to happen. Clearly God has used evil men to punish His people before -- it's recorded in the Bible -- if you believe it.
the other point was that -- although, as a people the US is wicked by Bibilical standards -- if there were a judgement aspect to this -- sin is the rejection of God's commands and we should all search ourselves before pointing out the wickedness of others. Such condemnation and supposing to speak for God -- except via what he has already said in His word -- is more than a little bit Pharasaic -- that was my point.

Doesn't change that lying, hating, murdering and homosexuality -- etc. are against God's commands.
