Yes - this is a complex situation not helped by talk of crusades and 'a mighty power' If Pakistan is being coerced into being a staging ground it raises all sorts of questions about how Indian will contribute - across Pakistan territory. Questions as to how much control the General has in his own country.

This is terrible terrain for a neophyte President - terrain where Imperial powers have come unstuck, and who can doubt that we're seeing an attempt at a New Imperial Order. (Whatever became of Dad's New World Order?)

Bush had too good days - at least his supporters think so - but he is in danger of getting rapidly ahead of himself. Interesting that Sharon's behaviour in trying to take advantage of the situation is making it very dificult to build a coalition involving Arab states.

And all the time POG is rising.
