Re <<I'm curious: how do you know I'm wrong?>>

As far as the people of Iran are concerned, I know you are wrong first hand.

As already stated, there is some truth to what you said as far as the hard-line faction in Iran is concerned. But that does not mean much. Iran's government is very much divided between the hardliners led by Khamenei and the moderate led by Khatami. The moderates that are publicly elected, now control over 2/3 of the parliament and 90% of all the local offices.

The moderates in Iran, are very much for normalizing ties with the west. Khatami has visited all European countries and normalized political and financial relations. Even Great Britain has normalized government contact with Iran including an embassy in Tehran. US is the sole remaining country.

Your general statements about Iran, would be condoning of the attacks, were simply uniformed and wrong.
