I hope my verbosity doesn't make Ike regret our rapproachment. <g> Much of this is just thinking through my fingers. I fear we're all just trying to find patterns in the shadows dancing on the wall.
1. Watch Mack-Cali Realty, by itself and versus the Morgan-Stanley REIT index (RMS.X). Few companies are a better proxy for the cross-currents of the impact of the New York situation on the markets. As a suburban-NY REIT, it stands to benefit from the short and long-term ramifications of the WTC destruction. As a REIT, it stands to benefit from further Fed easing. If the REITs dive and Mack-Cali does not outperform, you will have a strong indication that panic selling is in place. The last RMS.X/CLI ratio was 14.30.
