Hi all - it is unlikely Pakistan would actually wage war against Afghanstan. Reality is that there is also a sizeable population of dispossessed within its own border. However, just be sealing off the border between the 2 countries will have the effects, militarily and psychologically.
Personally, I think Clark's concerns are a prudent look at history, even though this is quite unprecedented. I mean, this is a rare moment in time when the US has contemplated to accept any goodwill gesture from both Russia and Iran! While Amr Moussa of the Arab League seems to backpedal a bit, the Talibans and Saddam Hussein are very isolated now. So, to justify my personal bias against any full scale war, I think it is a matter of striking at the heart of terrorism, even if it may take longer time to achieve the goal. If it must, the US should concentrate on Kandahar. One doesn't remove the cancer by killing the whole body.
