The report about Germany came from a Pakistani news source, so I suppose its veracity can be questioned. However, I can see lots of "allies" backtracking on support after they see what is involved. A lot of the support, I think, was knee jerk reaction in sympathy to the death and devastation. Now that it is time to put up or shut up, the political considerations are being weighed. Do we help the US even if it means that we now will face an increased terrorist threat? If we act meekly, what can the US do to us [not much]? How will the next election go if we have body bags full of German soldiers on TV?
