EMC trading well. LU holding up.

CLI popped, faded, but is still up 7.5% as of this writing.

I don't know if IBM has started aggressive open market buying. Good action off the bottom.

Word is that CAL is posturing by not making the scheduled payment on the equipment trust certificates (trying to scare Congress, dontcha know). Because CAL's drop is disproportionate to other airlines, that hedged purchase I mentioned earlier this morning is attractive.

The spike on the DJIA below 9,000 highlights the importance of that round number to market participants. We now have higher lows in DJIA, SPX, and QQQ (32.20 looks strong on QQQ since it has been both support and resistance today).

Cross-currents in utilities: good yields, but security concerns must be weighing on them. Any thoughts?
